Mijo Refrigeration Factory was built in 1986 by the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperative to produce and store ice specifically for seafood. It was located near Mijo fishing port in Namhae. But due to the aging of the facility, the factory was no longer in use. Therefore, It was regenerated into Space Mijo, a cultural complex. It contains an archive center that collects the culture and history of Namhae fishing village, a creative industrial space where you can develop new products based on these local resources. And it also provides a space for exhibition, and theatre for visitors’ entertainment. The logo of Space Mijo was designed as a modified alphabet ‘m’ the first letter of Mijo inspired by the shape of a wave. It represents the transformation and new flow of the heat exchanger that was used in when refrigeration factory and is still preserved inside the building. By using the neon colors of buoys and flags that can be easily seen in Mijo Fishing Port, signage and various promotional materials were created.
