Pikant designed the winter special issue of the Writers Opening Tomorrow journal, published by the Writers’ Association of Korea, titled Words Ignited in the Square.Words Ignited in the Square brings together critical essays by 27 critics from the Writers’ Association of Korea. Reflecting on their experiences during the period of martial law, each contributor selected a work of Korean literature that had been “ignited” within them and wrote a critical essay in response to it.To clearly articulate the book’s structure—composed of original texts and critical essays—Pikant first compiled the original works into a separate, small booklet. This booklet was then scanned and inserted into the main volume. For the cover, a photograph of the same small book set on fire was used, visually conveying the concept of “ignition” in a direct and intuitive way.
『내일을여는작가』 겨울 특별호 「광장에서 점화된 말」의 디자인을 맡았습니다. 「광장에서 점화된 말」은 한국작가회의의 27명의 평론가가 계엄 정국의 경험을 통해 각자 자신에게 ‘점화’된 한국 문학 작품 한 편을 선정하고, 그에 대하여 쓴 비평적 에세이를 묶은 책입니다. 원문과 비평문으로 이루어진 책의 구조를 선명하게 드러내기 위해, 피칸트는 먼저 원문만을 모아 작은 책으로 제작한 뒤 이를 스캔해 본문 속에 배치했습니다. 표지에는 동일한 작은 책이 불타는 장면을 촬영한 이미지를 사용하여, ‘점화’라는 개념을 직관적으로 전달하고자 했습니다.
